SOME OF THE MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which ailments does Z-CoiL Footwear normally alleviate?

Why don't they cover the spring on the heel?

The unique look is a testament to how effective these shoes are for pain relief. They would not look this way if they were not designed for a specific use. Z-CoiLs are engineered to relieve foot, leg and back pain. However, originally intended for workers on construction sites (i.e for safety) the coil does come in an enclosed version.

They look like high heels, are these shoes stable ?

They appear to be higher in the back than in the front. When you step down on the heel it compresses and becomes the same height as the front of the shoe. The foot is level inside. While they may appear unstable, quite the opposite is true. The Z-CoiL shoe has a larger compression distance than other shoes so they are able to absorb deviations in the ground without forcing the ankle to turn. They react much like the shock absorbers on your car.

 Can I run in Z-CoiLs?

Yes!  Runners love Z-CoiL Footwear because they dramatically cut the shock incurred with each stride. (impact = 3 times the body weight)

Will rocks and debris get caught in the open coil?

Rocks and debris getting caught in the coil does not happen very often, however you should always use caution around cords, hoses and other tripping hazards.  Remember if something is small enough to get in, it is small enough to get out with a slight shake of the foot.

How much are replacement heels and where can I get them?

Replacement heels cost $50 and are available from us. Replacement heels are mailed the same day we receive your order.

Why aren't these shoes available in department stores?

Most department stores do not have the personnel trained to custom fit shoes or the time to spend with customers to assure complete satisfaction.

Do you sell any other products at your store?

Yes, we also sell The World's Softest Socks. In combination with our shoes, these socks provide the ultimate in foot comfort.

More FAQ

1. Are Z-CoiL®s unstable?

Surprisingly enough, Z-CoiL®s are more stable than most footwear.

2. Are they high heels? Why or why not?

Z-CoiL®s are not high heels; the heel is only about ½ inch higher than the forefoot cushioning. Because the coil compresses,
the functional height of the heel could be level or somewhat negative.

3. Can I use my orthotics with them?

Yes, but you may not need to. Try them both ways. About 80% of wearers are able to rely on the built-in orthotic alone; 20%
continue to use their separate orthotic with their Z-CoiL®s.

4. Can I drive with them?

Yes, but be careful not to hang your foot up on the pedals. You may have to move your seat back about 1 inch (2 cm) to
compensate for the thickness of the forefoot cushion.

5. How long do the coils last?

The coils can last you a lifetime but the rubber pad on the bottom of the coil will wear.

6. How long will the heel pads last?

Typically the rubber pad will last between six months and two years with normal use. People who put their Z-CoiL®s to hard
use have been known to  wear through the pad in three months; people who are easy on their footwear have been known to
wear their coils for four years.

7. Can I jump higher?

No. You jump from the ball of your foot, not the heel.  But you will land softer.

8. Can I use them in my sport?

Maybe; many do. You will have to try Z-CoiL®s in your sport to see if they work for you. Here is a partial list of sports where
people are using Z-CoiL®s: running, tennis, golf, racquetball, aerobics, step aerobics, and all kinds of referee work.

9. What about gravel getting into the coils?

What goes in will come out. Gravel may get crunched between the coils and then it is even easier for the smaller pieces to
        shake out.
